DEFINITIONS
Client
A Client is an individual who has paid for a photography session or redeemed a paid gift card. For family sessions, the Client is the adult responsible for the booking.
Photographs / Images
Digital image files created during a studio session by the Client or members of their group, including children.
CORE DATA PROTECTION PRINCIPLES
- We collect only what is necessary to deliver our services
- Client photographs are private by default
- Images are never used for marketing without explicit consent
- Photographs are stored securely and deleted after 10 days
- Personal data is never sold or traded
INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Information You Provide
When you book or attend a session, we may collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Booking and session details
- Payment confirmation
- Digital photographs created during your session
Payment Information
Payments are processed securely via third party providers, including:
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay
- Revolut Pay
- Bank card payment processors
AQ does not store full card or payment details.
Automatically Collected Information
When you visit our website, limited technical information may be collected automatically, such as IP address, browser type, device information, operating system, and website usage data via cookies or similar technologies. More details are available in our Cookie Policy.
Sensitive Data
AQ does not intentionally collect or process sensitive personal data.
LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING
We process personal data based on one or more of the following lawful grounds:
- Performance of a contract (providing photography services)

- Explicit consent (marketing and promotional image use)
CLIENT PHOTOGRAPHS AND IMAGE USE
Client photographs are treated as personal data and handled with care.
- Images are used solely to deliver the booked service
- Images are private by default
- Images are never used for marketing or promotional purposes without explicit consent
- Refusal to give consent does not affect service delivery
EXPLICIT CONSENT FOR IMAGE USE
AQ Self-Portrait Studio will only use Client photographs for marketing or promotional purposes where clear and explicit consent has been given.
- Consent is not assumed, implied, or bundled into bookings or payments
- Consent is specific to marketing image use
- Consent can be withdrawn at any time
Requests to withdraw consent can be sent to hello@aqphotos.ie.
Withdrawal applies going forward and does not affect lawful use prior to withdrawal.
RECORDING CONSENT
Where consent is provided, AQ records:
- The identity of the Client
- The date consent was given
- The purpose for which consent applies
This information is retained only to demonstrate GDPR compliance.
IMAGE STORAGE AND RETENTION
- Client images are stored securely using Google Drive and/or Apple iCloud
- Access is limited to authorised AQ personnel
- Images are shared only with the Client via a secure access or download link
- All Client images are permanently deleted 10 days after the session date, unless explicit marketing consent has been provided
CHILDREN’S DATA AND FAMILY SESSIONS
AQ Self-Portrait Studio welcomes families and children.
- Children may appear in photographs as part of family or group sessions
- The adult Client making the booking is responsible for providing consent on behalf of any child participating in the session
- We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children outside of their appearance in photographs
- Children’s images are treated with heightened care and privacy
- Images of children are never used for marketing or promotional purposes without explicit consent from the responsible adult
- Parents or guardians may request deletion of images involving children at any time, subject to legal obligations
THIRD PARTY SERVICE PROVIDERS
We use trusted third party services to operate our business efficiently. These may include:
- WordPress – website hosting and management
- WooCommerce – booking system
- Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok – marketing and advertising platforms
- Secure payment processors – Apple Pay, Google Pay, Revolut Pay, and card payment providers
- Analytics tools – to understand website usage and improve performance
These providers process data in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable data protection laws.
SHARING OF PERSONAL DATA
